Press Release: Three Sails Studios to publish ‘City of Espers’, new TTRPG from Nathan Blades.

December 1st, 2025. Manchester: Three Sails Studios are happy to announce that they are publishing City of Espers - A Street-Level Psychics RPG, the next TTRPG from established designer, streamer, and AP performer Nathan Blades.

An agreement was made between Three Sails Studios and Nathan Blades in May 2025 and we are now happy to formally announce this publishing partnership alongside releasing the City of Espers Prerelease Guide and a two-part Actual Play hosted by Nathan.

With the Prerelease Guide now available, work begins on getting City of Espers ready for crowdfunding, which is scheduled to take place in September 2026 with a complete product, with delivery and fulfilment to follow in January 2027.

George Francis Bickers, Studio Lead at Three Sails Studios: ‘We are over the moon to be working to complete and release City of Espers alongside Nathan, who I’ve known and been friends with for a few years, now. I playtested an early version of the game back in February 2024, before we had even publicly announced Mappa Mundi, and said to Nathan on the spot that I wanted to publish it. Thankfully, in January 2025, Nathan came to me with the proposition and we got to work on making it happen right away.

City of Espers is not only an incredibly fun TTRPG, but also a really important game, and one that aligns with our politics and values as a studio and as individuals. Both Jeremy [Blum] and myself have been really happy to work alongside Nathan on getting the game to its current stage, and we’re looking forward to carrying on work over the next year to bring it to as big an audience as we can!’

Nathan Blades, City of Espers creator, designer, and writer: ‘What started out as a fuzzy idea before a 4am flight to make "the world's first gay wargame" has evolved into the vibrant and complex TTRPG we have today, and I'm so happy to be working with Three Sails Studios to bring it to tabletop gamers everywhere!

The idea of finding joy and community in a world that's often hostile is something that's infused into all of my games but it's never been stronger with City of Espers. Urban Fantasy is at its best when characters explore their relationship to a city and its people in depth, and players are set to do that in spades! (Or hearts. Or diamonds.)

‘Whether you strive together to win the Esper Battle Championships, find perfect harmony with your local Turf, or just have fun painting a squad of colour coordinated miniatures with your mates; I hope that City of Espers brings you stories of connection and resonance.’

City of Espers - A Street-Level Psychics RPG is is an anime-inspired urban fantasy TTRPG about found families of psychics navigating their local community, their mysterious powers, and super-powered sport battles.

Inspired by graffiti culture, queer culture and a love of urban living at its best (and worst), City of Espers can be a vibrant story of youthful rebels tackling the Esper Battle Championship or a tense exploration of how far people can go to protect their own community from those that would do them harm.

Zener City is full of quirky characters... including the neighbourhood itself! As your House of psychics grows through victory and hardship, it'll even resonate with the city itself, creating Turf. As your connection to the community grows so will your Turf... but not all the Houses out there use their influence for positive reasons.

Using a deck of cards rather than dice, players can become a little psychic themselves as they predict what cards others might be holding and use their own hand to the fullest.

Built for both dramatic storytelling and speedy, tactical action scenes, construct your Esper from a whole host of custom gear, game-changing psychic abilities and character-defining directives.

CITY OF ESPERS WILL BE LAUNCHING ON KICKSTARTER IN SEPTEMBER 2026. THE PRERELEASE GUIDE IS AVAIALBLE NOW.
