The Three Sails Studios Community Licence allows creators (designers, writers, artists, content creators, streamers, etc.) to make content based on our games. The Community Licence allows you to publish and monetise your creations and to keep 100% of the proceeds.

What follows are the conditions for the Community Licence, as well as what Three Sails Studios products it applies to. If anything is unclear, or if you’re seeking further clarification, please contact us at george[at]threesailsstudios.com with the subject ‘Community Licence Inquiry’.

This Community Licence does not permit you to create or to distribute merchandise based on any of our games or artwork. If you want to commercially licence any Three Sails Studios product or artwork, please contact us at george[at]threesailsstudios.com

We expressly forbid the use of any Three Sails Studios product, or any part thereof, in the use of training generative AI tools or LLMs.

THREE SAILS STUDIOS COMMUNITY LICENCE

Mappa Mundi - An Exploration + Ecology RPG

THIS COMMUNITY LICENCE PERMITS YOU TO:

  • Create supplements, hacks, and modules that are compatible with the game, create new Monsters and Creatures, and create new places and locations that are part of/expand on the existing setting (the ten Regions covered in the Mappa Mundi core rulebook), either for free or monetised. Hacks, in this context, includes making new games (i.e, not Mappa Mundi games) that make use of the Mappa Mundi system.

YOU MAY ALSO:

  • Publish new adventures for Mappa Mundi, as demonstrated by those official adventures published under the Chronicles of the Wilds title, as long as those adventures take place in the existing setting (the ten Regions covered in the Mappa Mundi core rulebook). You may make these available for free or monetise them.

YOU MUST:

  • Credit Three Sails Studios and link to the Mappa Mundi website. See ‘You Must Include The Following’ below.

YOU MUST NOT:

  • Use or translate any substantial text from the Mappa Mundi core rulebook, Chronicles of the Wilds, or the Solo Supplement. Permissible uses include references to existing people, places, names, and Monsters and Creatures.

  • Use our company logos or the Mappa Mundi logo

  • Claim, or in any way imply, that your product is ‘official’ or ‘licenced’ without our explicit permission.

  • Do anything that brings Mappa Mundi - An Exploration + Ecology RPG or Three Sails Studios into disrepute. This
    includes, but is not limited to, making something illegal, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise
    derogatory. Three Sails Studios reserves the right to determine these categories.

YOU SHOULD:

  • If creating a supplement or module for Mappa Mundi, use the following logo, showing that your product is compatible with Mappa Mundi and showing that it is published under this Community Licence. You shouldn’t change the logo in any way, beyond changing its size.

  • If creating a hack or new game based on the Mappa Mundi system, use the following logo, showing that your product is made with the Mappa Mundi system and/or rules and showing that it is published under this Community Licence. You shouldn’t change the logo in any way, beyond changing its size.

  • Send us an email and let us know what you’ve created. We’d love to share it with our community, or even potentially buy some from you to sell to our customers at conventions.

YOU MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • “[Product Name] is an independent publication created by [Author or Publisher Name] and is not affiliated with Three Sails Studios. It is published under the Three Sails Studios Community Licence. Mappa Mundi - An Exploration + Ecology RPG is the intellectual property of Three Sails Studios. You can find out more about Mappa Mundi at www.mappamundirpg.com”
